Forced Induction on the 4.0
Alright people if this has been asked alot im sorry, but i had a bad experiece with boosting too much on my old mazdaspeed protege....yea my rods were sticking out of my block on the side of the road. I was just wondering...what is the easiest SAFE way to get to low 14's with the v6 stang. Is throwing a blower on these engines a good idea? will the stock internals hold up for a long time with say 6psi of boost? If there is a safer way to get to low 14's what is it? Increasing comperssion is costly, but if a blower decreases reliability alot, then im gonna just go the safe way. Please help i dont want another swiss cheese block!!!! GIVE ME A GOOD UPGRADE PATH TO GET ME TO LOW 14'S! (please dont say drag radials, i will not hesitate to slap you.) thanks.

6 PSI if tuned properly will not be a problem... There are a couple of S/C options and a Turbo option soon to be available... and if you only want an occasional boost a 75HP shot of N20 will get you low 14s... I ran a 14.001 on a 75 shot...

RE: Forced Induction on the 4.0
yea i would say nitrous would be the path for you, but 6psi, would be FINE!!!! scrming has alot of experience with nitrous, so if u wanna go that route, he is prolly a good guy to talk to

RE: Forced Induction on the 4.0
if you want 14s you will probably want to go with the 6 or 7psi boost
but you would definitly not be getting you money's worth with this....so you may want to consider nitrous

RE: Forced Induction on the 4.0
Depending on how much you want to spend...the X-Charger might be a good choice for you. It only runs at 6PSI and has been used for years on Rangers and Explorers. It's safe, self contained and would give you power all the time. The only bad thing is that it will cost around $4100 when it comes out. If you don't want to spend that much nitrous would be a great choice also, like scrming said. I ran 14.2 on my very first run(only run actually) and I'm sure i could have done better with practice.

RE: Forced Induction on the 4.0
word on the street is your black can handle up to 16psi before you change your internals
at 12psi you would eventually change your headgasket..
9-10psi seems to be the popular boost on our torque monsters

RE: Forced Induction on the 4.0
yeah, just have a couple tunes. One daily driver 6-8psi, and one for the drag strip 10-???? making plenty of horsepower. Supercharger sounds nice but i like the torque numbers of the Powerhouse turbo .
