Default nitrous legality?

so my friend stopped by my job today to talk cars with me and about what he wanted to do with his camaro....

I told him I wanted to eventually would like to get nitrous and he was like.... u better watch out, if a police officer sees the bottle, they will impound ur car...

So im guessing nitrous is illegal in New york????

Also i was like well, maybe i could hide it from the side panel lining in the trunk by poping out those plastic clips that keep it there and replace it with the bottle hidden...

-- but--

i would def get gears and a t lok or just a gt rear end before something like that i think...

The reality of it all though is i would have the nitrous and never use it becuase I would be on the street and nj is the closet drag strip to me i believe...

in most states nitrous is legal to have in your car, even hooked up and full

however, you are not allowed to have the bottle open and ready to use on the road

if you do have it open or you are actually using it and the police find out, you could have your car impounded, but that is probably not going to happen unless you were doing something to get the cop really pissed

You might want to try contacting Zex, as well, just to be safe. I'd imagine they could tell you if their kit was illegal in your state.

I doubt it is, though, as long as you're not spraying...
