GT has smaller tread. Is it true.

GT has smaller tread. Is it true.
In deciding to get a wider tires for my V6 Deluxe I decided to check the Ford website for Tread width on a GT and this is what I found.
Tread width 62.7/63.0
GT 62.3/62.5
So looks like GT has narrower thread front and rear by almost half an inch. It doesn't make sense to me since GT is riding on 17*8 rims and out stock V6 got a 16*7. I figured GT should be at list have 1" wider tread (track) or more. Did Ford make a typo on the site?
