i think i'll just settle for 3.73's & tlok, when i decide to upgrade. I'm a college student and have to commute to a class so i need a practical highway car.

I was thinking about the 3.7s as well. When I get the LSD put on I'll do the new gears at the same time. We need the 7.5 inch gears and diff, right?

Whatever!

Some of you need to take an auto-shop class at your local high school or college. It may save you alot of these types of questions. Do the math, and you'll be happy.

ok im gonna trust you blackfoot because you seem to know the most about our cars...but while we are on the topic of top speed...does anybody know what our top speed is once the governer is eliminated by a tuner? im hoping its governed because 113 drag limited is TERRIBLE. If 4.1's bring down the top speed from 113 then racing might suffer if extensive modding is done...correct? if anyone has 3.73's or 4.1's what top speeds have you been seeing?
the gorverner may read the speedo, so youll govern out at a higher rpm then youused to.. without the tuner, im assuming go rev out in 5th and thats how fast you go

thank god for blackfoot!! you actually know what your talking about!

(BTW i love mustangman's sig "4.10 gears and t-lok--if you dont know anything aboot gears, dont comment on"......i think he is breaking his own rule!!)

yes, 4:10's will lower top speed, but improve torque, and off the line umpf. 3.73's are better for manual usually because we all know (manual owners) how fast this car goes through first, so wilh a higher ratio gear, you will almost have no first gear.lol lots of torque but it wont last long...lol

and before youstart saying "you dont even have gears", you are correct.... for this car. my truck has 4.56's, and i know what they do.
oh yeah and dont think your rpm'swill jump from 2200-3500! that would be crazy!(and it would suck) i think its more like 2200-3000.

just my $0.02

oh yeah: 8cd03gro, the car is governed to 113 from the factory. drag limits arelike 147 or something...i dont remember, but a tuner will remove the governer(sp?) and you can get a gps and tell us all what she'll do !! lol
lol about the RPM i gave an exagerated example to give people an idea in the direction things work

.. well when you order your rearend parts just let them know youhave a 7.5 rear end ... youll get the rigth things you need. 8.8 rear end parts wont fit in your raer end lol

ill bet you my bank account an underdrive gear ratio = torque multiplication

if you get a small ratio compared to what you initilly had, you will lose torque... get a taller ratio and you will get an increase in torque
