Gears on an auto

There are about a bazillion posts on these forums about the fact that mod's will not void your warranty. Do a search, print them out and let your parents read for themselves Basically the dealership can only refuse to repair something under warranty if they can prove the problem was caused by the mod. For example, if you put an intake and tune on and blow your tranny, the dealership will repair it under warranty because the two are unrelated. If you burn up your rings, they might repair it or they might argue that your tune caused the problem because the car was running too lean. It depends on the dealership. But either way, your warranty is not voided.

I thought it was funny they didnt want him to do mods in case of voiding warranty, but no problem with him driving 100mph. Guess they arent worried about voiding his LIFE.
Let us know which gears you decide to get and how they perform. We always like to hear feedback on the different gear setups.

RE: Gears on an auto
Hi all, just last week I had the ford racing t-lok (traction lock) diff and a set of ford racing 3.73 gears installed by my dealer. Car runs great, using a SCT 89 octane tune from Lidio at Alternative Auto Performance. Here's my experences...
Service tech called factory rep, his response to this mod was even thou this setup is not an option on the 06 V6 Automatic, it is a solid setup on several other ford products, ie ranger pickups. The Ford Racing gears are the best, higher quaility then oem, and pre honed in. I bought the gears, the t-lok and the Yukon Rear end master installation kit w/bearings, seals, shims, ect from http://www.v6mustangstuff.com/ be sure and order for the 7.5 inch rear end which the V6 05-06 mustangs have.
The Dealership service rep advised me that Ford parts, Ford install = Ford warrenty ! I keep the old parts, (about 4k miles on em)
I was charged flat rate for the install, approx 6.5 hours labor. With tax and shop fees it was a little over $610.
At first the gears whined some while steady crusing, and got a little rumble between 85-100 mph. But this is expected with new gears and the t-lok. Ive put about 400 miles on em this last week, and have noticed the gear whine is less. The service tech advised me to vary speed and just drive em that it will take about 1k to fully break in.
I can't peel out now on dry pavement, and when the tranny shifts from 1'st to 2'nd gear I'm not squeaking the back tire, but now I've two wheels driving the car, and acceleration is much more rapid, not wasting energy spinning the one tire.
I was hesitant at first doing the gear change, but research on the gearing showed that with the automatic V6, the 3.31 gears were more of a overall driveabilty and fleet gas miliage issue, not performance. If giving the option this setup on the automatic would be the chosen setup for this v6 mustange. The 5 speed manual transmission is geared diffiertly, I beleve it comes with 3.54 gears..(please correct me any of you w/5 speeds manuals out ther) and the same setup would favor the 4.11 gears on the manual transmission cars.
( ok where's the big 4.11 @)
Your looking at around $1100 dollars to do this, a little more than half is labor, but even paying for the labor at ford dealership to get warrenty, its not a lot of money for the long term performance gains.
You will have to buy a tuner to change your gear ratio in the pcu, other wise your speedo, shift points, ect will be off.
Have fun and let us know what you decide....
