Default Which GT muffler to order

I have a 2006 Mustang V-6 automatic with the pony package. I want to change the muffler, and after reading this forum, have decided to replace it with a Mustang GT muffler. I called a Ford dealer to order the muffler and was told there are different part numbers for mufflers depending on whether they are for automatic or manual transmission cars. Does anyone know the difference between the mufflers? The one for the automatic is cheaper ($186). If I go with the GT muffler, which one should I order? I was originally going to buy the Ford Racing Muffler made by Borla, but after reading comments on this forum, I think it might be too loud. I am interested in a more mellow sound. Thanks in advance for your comments.

dude $186 is way to much, look in the classifieds of this forum and you could find people selling both GT takeoff mufflers for like $50-80

lol, don't believe dealers 99% of the time. from my experience, my salesman didn't know jack **** about mustangs. They will try to rape you on anything you might want to buy, and give you hell if you have to get something fixed under warranty. and if you do have to get something replaced under warranty you may have to raise hell

Actually it does. The manual mufflers are a bit louder/more aggressive sounding than the ones from automatics. I wouldn't pay the dealer prices. You can find GT mufflers for like $40-$50 a pair on Ebay.

Hi,

What is the "Automatic Transmission" muffler part number. I never realized there was a difference and the set I got is the number you quoted (Manual) My car is automatic. What is the difference?
