Default Whats the Difference Between 1994-95 and 1996-98 Mustang GT ?

Sorry for putting this post here I just didnt know where else to ask this question. I want to get a project car but I cant decide whether to get a 1994-95 Gt or a 1996-1998 Gt. Because I like the 5.0 but I like the look of the 1996-98 Because of the tail lights and I heard that the motors are better is this true? Cause there is someone selling a 1994 Mustang for 2,500 ,it might be a good deal so Im wondering should I jump on it or should I wait and Get a 1996-98? So the real question, I guess is which one is better?

94-95 were 215/285 from a 5.0, 96-98 were 225/290 from a 4.6. Both weighed almost the same, 32xx. I like the 96-98 a bit better exterior wise, but thats personal preference...performance wise they're both mid-high 14, low 15 sec cars with a little edge to 96-98..

somewhere in there they switched from 5.0 to 4.6 i believe, i think 94-96 has 5.0 and 97-98 has the 4.6

1996 was the first year of the 4.6L. According to Edmunds, Ford didn't bump up the horspower from 215 to 225 on that until 1998, however.

I'd get the 94 or 95 5.0L, theirs more aftermarket parts for the old 5.0 HO. The more displacement the better :, If i do believe the 5.0 has more torque than 4.6 but their both about the same horsepower wise.

1994 -1996 is probably the worst year as far as performance goes for Late Model Mustangs. The 94-95 are 5.0 and ,in my opinion , are dogs, the computers are awful(most people that have em and they run good have changed to the older A9L computer proc.). There are not as many parts out there for these 5.os than for the pre 1993 ones. In 1996 the engines changed to 4.6 , this was my first mustang a White 1996 GT 5 speed. This are the slowest of all modulars but if you change the heads and intake for the 99- version you will end up with a goos car, basically the same engine as the one rated at 260 hp 300 tq. making a modular engine run fast is not chaep but i think in the long run you will be better off with a 1996 on model. Hope this helps , any ? dont hesitate to pm me. Good Luck
