noisey shifting - manual trans.
Anyone else with a manual trans hear lots of clunking when shifting 1-2? I dont hear it as much when I clutch/shift slow. But if I clutch/shift a little quicker I hear some clunking and rattling after clutching between 1-2 shift.
Anyone else hear this?

the only clunk i hear is when i use the clutch and thats if im off the gas before disengange the clutch (pedal in) but thats because the car it self is putting the load on teh transmission and everything is turning according to raod speed. so when you put the pedal in you hear a clunk basically because your engine is being relieved of the pressure.. now as to why it does that i have no clue.. but try disengaging your clutch(pedal in) while your still coasting at that (engine unlaoded feel) your not accelerating but your also not slowing down

If I'm slow and deliberate about the 1-2 shift with the clutch I dont hear the ratltle, but if I try to shift/clutch faster thats mostly when I hear it. If its normal and some of you other shifters hear it too then thats ok. I can live with it.

Yeah Its normal unfortunately the noisy clunky gears they call it “backlash†or something they said at the dealership….Does your Engine rev by it self when you go into neutral when about to stop too???

Yes I have noticed a slight idle fluctuation when coming to a stop sometimes. It bounces a couple of hundred rpm's then evens out at idle. It has never lasted more than a couple of seconds. Thats normal too huh? Can an SCT EX2 tune take care of that?

It goes up to even 2100RPMs goes down thatn up again if you dont hold the clutch in or you can let the RPMs drop to below a 1000 when stopping in what ever gear your in and it wont do that(most of the time)/...I read and explanation about it here : http://www.allfordmustangs.com/forum...ad.php?t=45776
I was wondering that too, if a tuner like SCT can adjust that, but never got a reply and I dont own ome (yet) so I dont know how they work......however it seems to be complicated more than normal car to drive ....

The only time I get any noise/clunking is after I have been driving it in stop start traffic (a lot of that here in London!!)
I get the impression that the gearbox does`nt appreciate it too much and heats up more than normal, me too!
I`ve only done 500 miles though so maybe I`m being paranoid, espically since I can`t just take it to my local ford dealership and I have no warranty cover here in the UK
