RE: Radar Detectors
Its not worth to get a cheap one for sure. The Escort Solo is the best , but about $299. I've had others, they are a waste of money. Plus its wireless and portable. Check out the Escort Solo website first..

I've been looking in to this myself. According to the radar busters website, it looks like the Bel Pro RX55 or the Whistler Pro 73 are the best ones in your price range. If you want to spend a little more to get better detection range and less false alerts, they suggest the Bel Pro RX65 or the Escort 8500 X50.
I'll probably buy locally, just because of the convenience of being able to take it in if something goes wrong, but check out eBay. People are selling these units new, and cheaper than in the local stores. You won't get the factory warranty, but most places offer their own replacement warranty. The only other downside to that is you probably won't be able to get any software upgrades for them, if any become available, because you didn't buy from an authorized dealer, and you will have to ship it to them for any repairs.
I'm thinking of getting one of the better units, just for the added security. I mean, just ONE ticket, and you've already paid the difference in price. But that's just me.
Hope that helps.
