Hey I have a pretty nasty sound coming from my car out of second gear. Every day when I get on the highway going uphill up the onramp I have the car in second gear @20mph and I go WOT, I bring it to like 4500-5000 rpm before I bring it to third, go WOT and get it to 80mph then do a quick 4-5 and cruise for 15 miles. Thing is when I let off the gas and hit the clutch and shift it up to third the engine sounds really weird while its slowing down, almost sounds like grinding gears but I know it cant be cause my tranny would be destroyed by now if it was, and it still drives fine, it just sounds really loud and rough, I dont like it, it ONLY does this coming out of second gear, not 3-4, at first I was thinking maybe I was shifting the shifter before I had the clutch fully in so I made sure that I depressed the clutch fully before shifting and the same thing happens, then I thought maybe I wasnt letting off the gas entirely and I was hitting the rev limiter or something so I payed attention to it and I wasnt but the noise was still happening. Can someone tell me what this noise is all about and if Im doing something wrong? I dont wanna hurt my baby. =/

i have the same niose in my auto when im cruising in second or third with the o/d off then hit the gas. Im also curious.

take it to ford. your correct if you grined out your tranny it wouldent run well. also check for recalls in the TSB.

Alright Ill see if I have time to take it to Ford, they suck here, service dept closes at 6 and isnt open weekends.
