more foglight harness questions
Hello all,
I just purchased a Pony Package grille with fog lights but need a wiring harness and switch to complete the install. I see that a good choice for many is the Street Scenes wiring harness for $80:
http://www.streetsceneeq.com/product_list.asp?mi=5
I will most likely go that route if possible, but I have read somewhere that particular wiring harness fits the GT foglights and not the Pony Grille fog lights. Is this true? If so, can the harness be easily modified to fit the pony grill lights?
Anyone know of any other ways of adding the harness/switch?
I'm just looking for the cleanest install possible.
Thanks

RE: more foglight harness questions
IMO 80 is a lot of money for a $5 switch, $10 in wire, $5 for a horn relay, and a set light sockets
I called ford and they wanted $30 per side for the 9145 socket. what i did was modifyed a set of 9005 sockets ($5 per side schucks).
making a harness is realy easy the tuff part is modifying the 9005 sockets to accept a 9145 bulb. go google it. i found a post on some forum that walked me though it.
good luck

RE: more foglight harness questions
scheetz,
Thanks for the info, I'll google how to modify the wiring harness. I'll probably go that route and just find some black wire loom for the rest of the wiring to make it all look tidy. Plus, then I can follow the Street Scene install guide to see where to run the wire. Thanks Afixer!
bscottie,
I didn't get a PM but let me know if you have some good suggestions as well.
Thanks

RE: more foglight harness questions
just tried to find that post and could not. so i ran out to the car for a refresher
"correction" use a 9006 plug and the bulb is what will be modifiyed
sorry been a while
1) when looking at the plug end of the bulb there is a plastic divider that seperates the terminal it gose about 1/2 way the distance of the plug opening
2) This divider must be removed. I used a set of small jewler dikes for the large pice then i cleaned it up and did the final fitment with small a screw driver that i heated up and scraped the rest of the divider out. you may also have to use the screw driver to melt a small chanel in the top of the plug(end that plugs in to the bulb, car end if you will) to accept what is left of the divider that you could not get all the way out
you may or may not have to modify the plug it is hard to get all the way down into the bulb and remove the divider all the way inside. that is why you may find it EZer to just melt a channel in the plug so you dont have to do alot of work to the bulb
let me know if i can help any more

Thanks man, the dremel should have no problem modifying the plug on the bulb. Thanks for everyone's input, looks like I'll have a good project going for this weekend.
