Default People who bought C&L CAI and Tuner from Bamachips.

This week I'm leaning towards getting the C&L combo from Bamachips. I've read many threads about this combo but no one has mentioned (and it may be self explainitory, just not for me) what happens to your MPG after you install this combo. I drive a long way to work and the mature adult in me says don't sacrifice gas mileage for a bump in performance. Meanwhile the mustang lover is saying lets get 5 mpg and go really fast.

Anyone who has done this set up please chime in on MPG performance.

Thanks in advance for your input.

From what I read in the FAQ, seems like there won't be any gains in mpg, and if anything - a slight decrease. I dunno, there's arguements for both sides. A good tune would optimize every drop of fuel that goes into the engine, but then again...more air in equals more fuel in, right? I'm curious myself, I ordered a tuner last week, and am anxiously awaiting its arrival!

I run the 93 octane torque tune (with the C&L CAI) from Doug at Bamachips, and my mpg is about the same overall. I can get a little better mpg on the highway (30+) if I drive conservatively (65 or so), but around town I'm about the same as before (~20) unless I get too tempted to floor it from every stop sign and light. With the newfound power -- I'm not gonna lie -- you may have a hard time controlling your own lead foot!

That said, I am running 93, so I pay another 20 cents or so on the gallon.

DoYourEssay, I love your Login name! As an English teacher, I find myself saying it all the time...

Hope you like the CAI/tuner combo!

I was getting 26MPG before I put the 21" wheels and new tires on driving AGAINST traffic away from Atlanta on the interstate with the tune listed in my sig. Now I get 16MPG but I now drive interstate WITH heavy Atlanta traffic.

The other problem you will find is DAMN its hard not to get on it all the time when the engine responds as well as it does with this tune.

I had to take it in for an oil change, got nervous about how it sounded and ran so I switched it back to the stock tune so I wouldn't lose my warranty. BIG mistake, it ran like CRAP even AFTER Ford reflashed it 'cause it ran so rough. I will leave it the way it is and change the oil myself!

Bamachips charges $650 for the package.

I didn't notice any change in my mpg, but I've only used the 87 tune so far. It might have gotten a little better, but I've been having more fun driving it. It's definitely worth it! It's not just a performance enhancement; it changes the whole feel of the car and makes it more solid and responsive.

I purchased my C&L combo/X-cal from Evolution. I run the 91 tune (the best I can do in Cali) and my gas mileage has remained about the same. About 23 but I have a lead foot.
