GT takeoff muffler vs "brand name"
Just a quick question guys...
As of now, I've got a stock V6 with a manual transmission.
If I replaced my stock muffler with a single GT takeoff, rather than with JBA, MRT, Flowmaster, etc., would I still be getting the same basic performance gains? I'm just wondering if it's worth paying 2 or 3 times as much for a "name brand" muffler, as opposed to just picking up a GT takeoff, which would be much easier on the old pocket book.

Get the take off....if it doesn't suit your needs, you won't be out much $$! It's a simple install you can do yourself in less than an hour. You'll get similar gains and the sound improvements are really nice.
You can hear a single or dual take offs here:

The gt mufflers were designed very well as performance goes but are pretty quiet. The reason the GT guys take them off is to get a better sound. If you're only concerned with power, then the gt takeoff isn't a bad choice.

I just installed the JBA and am very happy with it. The whole time i was changing it with my friend I was afraid it wasn't worth the money. I am happy to say it was IMO.
But like they said, it depends on what you're going for

you gain 11rwhp by taking your muffler OFF
you gain 10rwhp by putting on a gt takeoff.........
you gain 17rwhp byputting on a MRT......
gt takeoff=80 for 2
mrt=~250 for 1
you decide
and the dua gt's and the single sound great, just not as loud as the MRT

From what I hear some Ford dealers reccomend MAGNAFLOAMS

[sm=nono.gif] Ricanpassion, why do you have to bust on magnafloams man? They are top quality and apparently only ONE dealership on the entire planet deals in them. So they must be pretty rare. Shoot, I may just get them put on my stang. Borla move over, it's all about magnafloams now.
