A few questions....as far as the louvers I need to know where to get the pre-painted unless you think that having them painted after get them....where do I get either...websites...phone numbers...etc. ?

Next I removed the gold stripes off the sides of my torch red mustang last night and love the look with out them....but I do want racing stripes...do I go to the dealership to have them put the racing stripes on there or is there a better place to get this done at? And if I get the racing stripes and want to put a rear louver on it will it jack the look up....or can they stripe the louver also....

My dealer advised me against ordering the vinyl racing stripes from Ford Racing. He said that the time/labor it takes to install them, plus the price of the stripes themselves (~$350 for the stripes) really doesn't make it worth it compared to getting them painted on. Basically, the auto body shop they used for comparison would have cost, in total (parts/labor, etc.) about $850, compared to about $1000 to have them painted on.

I figured for that kind of money, I'm going to work on the performance, and maybe pick up some cheaper appearance stuff. Maybe I'll do the stripes in the future, but I just couldn't rationalize doing that now considering what performance mods I can do for that same amount.

Hey, I would recommend having the louvers painted and then put on. Mine are at the paint shop right now. I say this because when you have them painted (at least where I went) after they put them on, they blend the paint to the car to get a better appearance and they're also clear-coated. I've seen a blue Mustang that obviously got his pre-painted...It was that noticeable. Hope this helps...
Also, I agree with JSTANG78. Get the stripes painted on. They'll last forever, never peel or fade and be clearcoated to match the rest of the car. The Ford dealer out here wants almost $2,000 to paint them on! I wish $1,000!!!!!

Lightner -- I suspect the estimate my dealer gave me for the painted stripes was a bit low-ball. To give credit where it's due, he did say that it was just his rough estimate, but he was unsure what it would cost at the shop. That was another reason I decided to put that money toward performance mods (and cheap appearance mods) and wait on the stripes.

I hear ya there! I'm waiting on the paint too. Just getting all the exterior mods (louvers, side scoops, hood scoop, mirror covers) for paint, prep and install is running me in the $900s
