The t-lok is Ford but the gears that V6 mustang stuff gave me are Motive!! I called them and they said that Ford don't make any aftermarket gears?? So I called 5 star ford and they said they don't make any!!?? The only thinn ford makes is a 3.31.

Im confused, so everyone has motive gears? I heard they were noisy as hel. Im not sure I want to put these in. Is this what everyone else has too. I could have swore that I saw a 3.73's in the Ford catalog & under your guys signiture?

I beleive someone had the same confusion awhile back.
If I remember correctly, the Ford Gears are actually made by Motive.

Can anyone verify this?

I've got Motive gears... No problems, no whine... A LOT depends on the installer... Luckily one of the best installers in Michigan is just in the next town over... LOL

+1 Installer is important!

Also, most people who change gears say use Motorcraft Synthetic 75W140,(<Beleive is right) for the least amount of whine.

where are you doing your gears at rick? i recommend mesa driveshaft, just talk to ed.

and motive made ford gears for a while. I got 3.73 gears from the local dealership. just tell them you want them out of a 2000 ranger with a 7.5 or something.

yup... have Motive 3.73's. I had some whine for awhile... a thousand miles or so... it wasn't really annoying, just noticeable. The whine is now completely gone... hmm... either that or my hearing is just shot... too much rock 'n' roll back in the day.

I read somewhere that Ford gears are actually motive gears rebranded. Never went to verify it.

Not sure that's right; the FRP gears are (or were?) softer than the Motive's. Soft = race gears / hard = street gears.
