Do your two magnaflows actual fight each other, or are they dual magnaflows?

I think one of the most important things you are doing is to keep your vehicle out of sunshine and the elements as much as you can.

That said, Mequiars, Zaino, and Mothers all make great products.

I am going to try Ice this weekend.

i also tried ice by turtle wax. the shine is absolutly amazing! but its only been on the car for about 5 days so ill have to see how long it lasts.
+1 to both the shine, and it being on the car for 5 days! The shine is absolutely unbelievable. It's not a regular wax, however, but more of a "booster," so I'm not sure if it has a long effectiveness. I plan on using it with each wash, except maybe when I actually wax it. For wax, I've been using Meguiar's NXT. Rain-X for the windows.
good detailing tip i picked up somewhere... but just when you do your final rinse before you dry it off, spray the ICE or whatever you have on the whole car while its still wet, then towel dry it.

If you really want to get into it, get a Porter Cable orbital buffer (it's fool proof) and get the Mirror Glaze (the Meguiers pro line) polishes and waxes.

I have had success with MEGUIARS NUMBER 5 (you won't normally find it in stores, it is available on their website). Do the car with number 5 and then finish with their NUMBER 26 paste. I don't own a buffer, don't intend to buy one. After the number 5 and number 26, give it a light buff with a very small amount of the MEGUIARS DETAILER. Mist it on a small area and buff lightly until it feels very slick.

Being in the garage will keep the wax on longer and you can get by with just using the detailer occasionally. I have SATIN SILVER and am very pleased with the results. I tried NXT and it glosses well, but doesn't stay on very long (used it on my ESCAPE that sits outside). NXT was fabulous on my 99 YAMAHA ROYAL STAR VENTURE.

I'm fond of MEGUIARS NUMBER 7 too. It's a glaze of a sort that restores oils, etc. to your paint that the sun can dry out. Makes the car looking dripping wet when your done. Follow with a wax and it will look excellent.

KEVIN,

NUMBER 5 and NUMBER 7 are quite similar. I talked with the MEGUIARS guy at CARLISLE one year and he recommended NUMBER5 over 7, especially in humid areas. NUMBER 7 used to clump a bit, NUMBER 5 comes off easier and does a similar job.

Good post.

I have to agree...for mass production type products (i.e. available at Wal-mart, autoparts stores, etc.) you really can't go wrong with Meguiars; especially the NXT line. I have used Meguiar's products for years and have been very pleased.

That being said, as stated above do yourself a favor and buy a Portor Cable polisher. You will wonder why you went so many years without having one. Does a better and faster job than doing it by hand.
