I'm guilty of all that as well... always volunteer to run errands... pass up my road just to keep driving... take the long way, etc. Heck, I'll just go jump in it and drive around for no reason at all sometimes. I haven't driven just for the sake of driving since my high school days 20 years ago. And if I've had a few cold ones, I'll sometimes just go sit in it and start it to hear the engine, and listen to the CD player.

I thought Id ask a silly question...

Do you fellow mustang owners find since you have had your steed you do extra pointless driving? 3 out of 5 nights of the week I drive my g/f to work, she works night shift. Anyways its no more then a 5 min trip there and 5 min back. I find myself always taking the long way back...infact tonight just for the hell of it I hit the highway and drove to the next city which is about 25 min away...WHY?? I have no idea...when I get in that stang all I want to do is drive, even if I am not doing something in peticular...My poor gas bill...lol
Yes; absolutely! I know that story, and then some. I used to drive an average of 600-700 miles a month in my last car. Ever since I got this one, I've been averaging at least 1000 miles a month. The gas station is two minutes from me. I take the half-hour route.

I just did that last night....my gas thing read like 49 till empty so i went out to get some light bulbs (well at least that was the excuse). Found me and my friend going all the way across town to pepboys to look around for about 15mins at nothing lol. Then i still needed gas so i went all the way to the other side of town to the highway to get off and get gas. Just so i could get back on the highway and just cruise into town....gotta love it. Driving our cars is just eases the mind, well i know when i get in the car i have no worries.

I certainly hope to get a ton of pointless driving in

To everyone crying about gas prices, I just think it's the price of admission. You pay for play, whether it's $20 for a movie with popcorn and a drink or $40 for a baseball ticket (+$20 to $40 for beer & hot dogs) or $40+ for a tank of gas.

Bingo! I traded in a ZX2 that got 28mpg during normal driving (more rush hour side streets than highway). I haven't even touched 28 when I took an all-highway roadtrip. I got 26. Otherwise, around town I generally get 18mpg in the Mustang. ...and it's not like I didn't know what I was getting into when I got the 'Stang. Like you said - price of admission. It's not an Escort; that's the bottom line.

Oh....and if you're talking about the Cubs, you left out the $45 for parking.

LOL, I didn't think there'd be enough Chicago people here to mention Cubs parking.

Though, I do see Stangs pretty often.

I haven't really seen too many around -- until last Friday. Went to Gino's East for pizza, and there were three in the lot. Went to the grocery store that night, and there were a couple more. I also saw a few on the road.

Despite being up north, I'm a Sox fan - but I go to Cubs games more often (most people I know are Cubs fans, and I just like baseball, so I figure, why not?). That parking is a KILLER. I love Miller Park in Milwaukee, however. It's immaculately clean for a ballpark.

Miller Park is awesome. There literally isn't a seat in the house that isn't great.

I'm more of a Cubs fan, but I've always loved the Sox too. The Cell is actually pretty easy to get to by train now, with the enclosure leading straight to the park, and the Cell's a pretty underrated stadium since they made the latest changes. Gotta be careful when Buehrle's pitching though - I got up to get a hot dog and a pretzel and somehow missed three innings!

Most of the 'Stangs I see are in the Des Plaines, Niles, and Glenview areas. I saw a three or four New Edges in a small grouping (and a classic Camaro SS that looked and sounded like an absolute beast) driving down Church street in Skokie a couple of weekends ago.
