Default The evil red glow

apparently, when you're out of gas, your gas gauge glows red, and your message center starts calling you names ("out of gass ****stain" and stuff like that).

I found this out because some stupid electrical gremlin decided that 7 gallons left was basically empty. So, I coasted into the gas station, silently cursing that b*st*rd in the crappy firebird that must've siphoned the 1/2 tank I swear I had.

On the bright side, after the fill up, my "gallons used" meter matched the Quik Trip pump for once. Usually QT says it gave me 0.3 gallons (i.e., $1) more than my car says it needed.

Where do you live? I miss Quick Trip stations. Mine glows evil red and screams at me too. I just turn the radio up.

Yes, that feature only comes with the IUP, and I believe it only happens when the dash lights are on. I've driven mine several miles while the dash said "0 miles to empty", in search of a gas station. Glad the original poster was able to coast into that station.

Does it actually beep at you when it gets red? I've had mine run down to the red four or five times now, but I constantly have my music loud, so I never hear it if it happens.

PHoenix - the garden spot of the country for the next three months.

I wonder what it would do if i had the dash lights on red to begin with. Probably flash .l.. (raised middle finger).

JaysFreaky - I beleive it did beep

28hopup - I coasted because I thought I had to - I still had 7 gallons on the tank. thelectronic poltergeist in my car was telling me. I had 0, but it was lying. Maybe it had something to do with the donuts I was doing in a parking ramp followed by a blast to the redline.

Wicked Pony - More like HAL.

Thats a pretty cool feature makes me want to get the upgraded gauge cluster, hey Wicked pony does your car have traction control? Cause I want to upgrade the cluster but I doubt I have the extra harness.
