RE: Don't Cut Bumper when doing Duals
Thanks to all for the input!! The Flowmsters I had put in have tips pointing down behind the bumper so the are not that noticeable. I'm just not going to risk screwing up the bumper.
Thanks to all though!!

RE: Don't Cut Bumper when doing Duals
Well, like everyone else said it just isn't an issue. I'm surprised two bodyshop guys would even tell you that, they should know better. The worst you could worry about is some chipping of the paint at the time the opening was cut, but there's no chance at all that the paint would peel. I did absolutely nothing to treat the edge of my bumper cut (it didn't need touching up since the car is black anyway). It's been over a year and over 20k miles and it's still fine.
This reminds me of a story, back when I was in high school I had a question about something I was doing to my car (can't remember now what it was, it was almost 30 years ago). I called the local auto parts store and explained everything to the guy that answered the phone. As he was talking, I thought I recognized the voice. It turns out it was one of my high school classmates and he knew far less about cars than I did! I learned a good lesson then, don't assume that just because someone works at a car parts store (or bodyshop, etc.) that they are an expert!
