JUST GOT A FREAKING TINT TICKET

RE: JUST GOT A FREAKING TINT TICKET
Wow, that sucks! Did he tell you how much the fine was, or is it one of those deals when they can feign ignorance, and make you call the court clerk and they get your wrath instead?
Sorry to hear that.
I want some smoked headlight covers, but wonder if I will get pulled over for it.... though about every other lowrider or suv around here has some on them.... you just have to KNOW --- a cop sees a mustang with them, your *** is getting a ticket.

I guess the tint restrictions are so cops can see what's going on inside a car during a traffic stop, in case a guy is trying to pick up a weapon or something. It FEELS like such a stupid ticket though, especially since you wouldnt be doing any of that. Hey at least you don't live in VA like I do, i think 50 % is the maximum. LAME!!!

RE: JUST GOT A FREAKING TINT TICKET
Two things that need to be said. I'm a retired police officer. I did very little traffic during my career, but I can assure you that it is a bit unsettling to walk up on a tinted window vehicle and NOT be able to see inside. That and the visibility issue contribute to the tint laws. Don't like the law, work responsibly to get it changed.
Bottom line, you don't have the right to do whatever you choose to any motor vehicle that is licensed in your State. There are laws, the rules are not arbitrary; they are usually based on a safety issue. Many of the other mods that we discuss on here are probably not legal either (I guess I am referring to mostly exhaust stuff with this one).
Most of the time (I doubt in this incident with the tint), the driver does a lot of STUFF to his car to draw attention to it and then gets upset when he gets in trouble for drawing attention to his car.
Just my opinion. I ride a motorcycle also, and that forum contains many of the same types of complaints. Operating a motor vehicle is NOT a right, it is a privilege granted by the laws of your respective STATE.

If it legal in the STATE where it is registered, all the other STATES have to respect that. I would imagine with tinting laws, there is a minimal amount of difference with the amount of tint that is allowed. These numbers don't mean much to me, the motor officers carried a car that had to be visible from the outside when placed behind the tinted window.

RE: JUST GOT A FREAKING TINT TICKET
yeah it was an actual ticket... which is crap cuz i've NEVER been told anything about it by law enforcement... no warning or anything.
Yes 5% is illegal in GA right now, but the laws here change every year so i never know what to expect.
it really pissed me off because if it had been ANY other officer other than this TROOPER IN TRAINING i wouldn't have gotten a ticket. and i understand why cops dont like the really dark tint becuz it puts their safety in jeapordy, but I roll ALL possible windows down when i get pulled over (that was my original plan when i had a 4 door also), so its really not an issue...
i really wanted to be like "happy father's day homo", but i didn't feel like checking out the state patrol's tint from the back of his car
