I found someone selling a Diablo tuner at a decent price. He said it works on the 05-06 GT and V6. Is that right? Aren't you supposed to buy one specific to your engine? It's unlocked and ready to use.

I could search for my answer on the 'net, but why not ask the experts here?

I think that the unit itself is capable of working on both Models, but the tunes have to be engine specific. They also have to match your computers calibration code. Or at least the SCT does. I don't know anything about the Diablo.

I'm sure you could have a tune written for your engine but personally I'd buy an X-Cal from a reputable dealer with a track record on our engines.

As far as I know you can only share the Diablo Predator for data logging but as for tunes you would need your own Diablo Predator tuner since the tuner reads your vin number from the computer so it would only know the first car that used it. But you could call the Diablo dealer to find out for sure.

All I know is that my Diablo tuner was specific to the 05. I bought it direct from C&L. At that time, C&L didn't have the 06 available yet. I guess with canned tunes it needs to be written for a specific year, but If your just downloading tunes from diablo, I guess it would be OK.

not sure about all diablo tuners, but mine i bought with the steeda cai and axleback, with 3 steeda tunes. when i updated the tuner I asked if the tune would work on the v6 because it specifically said GT. The guy from steeda said they are the same tunes. Sounded a little fishy to me since they are very different engines, but it runs much better now and all the functions seem to work. As long as he puts the original tune back on the tuner, it will read any new mustang vin number. the tuner is married to the vin number until the original tune is place back into the car and then the divorce is final, ready for a new spouse.

How good a deal are you getting, I am selling my cai, axle back, and tuner pretty cheap. package deal though!
