Thats the was it's supposed to be, you can turn it at any angle you want for presonal preference. I like mind angled towards the right, it helps push the shifter from 2 to 3 and 4 to 5. Just a feel thing.

You should try the Tee handle shifter ****, it makes the 2/3 shift a lot easier.
