Need opinions on CAI/Tune vs Warranty
So, having been on the forums some time now I convinced myself that a CAI & tune was the way to go and that $600 or so was reasonable for some extra hp and less throttle lag etc.
However I am concerned because of the effects on my warranty. Its an age old debate on these forums but my concern has more weight since I got my stang with an extended powertrain warranty to 75k miles.
I'm a realsitic guy. This is a Ford and I can imagine I could get engine problems at some stage. I feel a tune is difficult to argue not too have added additional stress on the car..I mean more hp and throttle/transmission changes have to do something...so where is my arguement if something goes wrong and my tune & CAI are sitting there...I can only see "sorry sir your warranty is void" and major $$ later a pretty pissed off Brit!
I'm really torn here because I really would like that extra performance. All serious opinions would be gratefuly recieved
Cheers
James

RE: Need opinions on CAI/Tune vs Warranty
You have only one option... if you want good performance, you must tune and CAI. Then, IF you MUST go to the Ford dealer, you take 20 minutes to put the stock air box back on and reflash to stock. Best to do this a week or so before the dealer, so you get some computer time, but no big deal if you don't.

RE: Need opinions on CAI/Tune vs Warranty
+1...actually, from what I understand it is illegal for dealers to void warranties based on aftermarket mods UNLESS the issue is caused by that mod..so I've read!
This excerpt is straight from the actual law:
aftermarket equipment which improves performance does not void a vehicle manufacturer’s original warranty, unless the warranty clearly and conspicuously states that aftermarket equipment voids the warranty (ours does not). Most states have warranty statutes, as well. Which provide further protections for vehicle owners.
