The original had a hood scoop, and some had the black out hood. Here is a good link on it:

Scrmings is right on, I definitely dig the MRT scoop.

hmmmm, well, I went for the updated boss look. I don't care for the over the hood and down the side old boss stripes on the new mustang. Those stripes were designed for the old mustang. On the 429 the hood scoop was body color, on the 302 it was black and the 351 had a paint accent in black or argent covering most of the hood. louvers were always black from the factory, as were the rear spoiler. Be carefull that your car dosen't look as though it was a magnet in auto zone. I wanted louvers for mine but they were over powering the rest of the cars look. My hood scoop is being changed to bronze chrome like my wheels. I also used the old mach stripes as inspiration for mine, but left out the cubic inch call out on the hood. If you want it to look great, think about it and either photoshop your changes on a photo of your car or have someone sketch it out for you.

The Boss 429 had a satin black hood scoop on the Grabber colored cars and body color on the non-Grabber cars.

Do you know what model our new mustangs were modeled after? Or was it just everything combined? Also Boss 244. You say my idea is a great start. What else would you reccomend if I was trying to go full out after a retro Boss look?
Our Mustangs are modeled after the 67-68 fastback.

More like the '65-'66 Fastback with different taillights.

The dashboard was modeled after '67.
