Default help :: Mustang V6 Stick Convertible

Hi guys,

I wanted to pick up a 2006 gray on black V6 convertible it is really sweet. Took it for a test drive. However, I live around the NYC area. Hence, we get hit with a lot of rain and snow. I know the new model has ABS and assisted steering if you lose control. I know it is rear wheel drive. But can you guys tell me if it's stable or... do I have to pray to God when I drive in bad conditions...

Thanks,

Eddy

Hey Eddie,
I live in the area and have had my 2005 V-6 Vert since last July. There were maybe 2 days last winter I couldn't drive it. I have enjoyed the hell out of the remaining 363. GO FOR IT you won't regret driving it every day.

Automatic, and yes, get snowtires. Put them on your stock Rims, then in the spring get yourself some "17's or "18's Rims with P-Zero's for the summer.

I have a 2005 6cyl standard Mustang without traction control and no anti-lock brakes. I've never driven a more stable car on snow and ice in my life. Can't help you with the convertible part though. My coworker has an 06 but hasn't made it to winter with it yet. He says it is double insulated and is made for winter though. Hope my 2 cents helps you out.

It's not an SUV, but my V6 vert did fine in light snow last winter. I've got 17" P-Zero's and they were good in the snow (I have ABS & Traction Control too). My best tip for you, add 250 lbs to the trunk in the winter (for better traction AND it eliminates unsightly wheel gap).

P.S. - In the snow, you'll pray to God that no one else slides into you.

I live in NJ and the first night I got her in January, we had a horrible ice/snow storm. Let's just say I was totally freaked out. I had gone to a movie with my friends and the storm started early. A trip that normally took me a half hour took me two, but she held up okay. If you have the stock 16"s, I'd say try to get some GT takeoffs at least. I did that and it handles a lot better in the rain (hasn't snowed yet). As far as heat, the top is good and it'll stay warm in the car. (I don't really use the heat though)
