LS1 NA running 9's.....
Hey I was reading in a Hot Rod Mag that there is an LS1 running 9's NA....!!!! WOW
I took a look at a pic of the intake and it looked like some sort of RAM Air device routed forwad from the intake and down in fron of the radiator I can only assume that it has a scoop of some sort at the end.....
With Ram Air being so unpredictable...I mean the volume being so variable ...
How would our cars mantain proper AF ratio?
If I put this correctly say you get x volume of air at x rpm....that's easily programable on the table...but if you add a head wind or tailwind or rain (heavier air) how would a car mantain proper AF ratios....or is that the draw back of air ram.....?

Your MAF can tell how much air is coming in, and adjusts the car accordingly.
A MAF has 2 wires which it heats up. 1 wire is shielded from the air. The other wire is the one you can see if you pull your MAF out. I think the MAF heats up to 180 degrees (or something like that).
The carputer knows that the first wire takes less voltage to heat up than the second wire (cuz the second wire is exposed to the air, and hence it cools down quicker).
That difference in voltate is applied to a formula that tells the car how much air is coming in.
Or at least that's how it was explained too me. I could be wrong.

i doubt weather just the ram air intake made a normaly 13 second car into a 9 second car! he's built like a mo fo.
the ram air that was giving to the Lt1 in 97 on the ss made the car a whopping 0.1 second faster in the 1/4

unfortunaly yes, when u think about it, ram air probably creates 1-2 psi at most 4, so it cant add as much as a supercharger or turbo, and not even the best s/cs can make a 13 second car into a 9 second car. its probably helping to keep under hood temperatures down.
