Manual Transmission Noisy ???

Manual Transmission Noisy ???
The 5-speed manual transmission in my recently acquired 2006 Pony seems to have some whine even when idling in neutral with clutch out.
Also, when shifting it kind of makes a knocking noise as the clutch is engaged. I think it makes the same noise if in gear and just let on and off gas, not sure - will check next time I drive it.
Is the T5 just have these quirks or not ? The dealer says it is normal, I bought the only 5-speed manual V6 they had left, so I could not check another car.
The 5-speed transmission in my 1999 Ranger 4x4 with 160,000+ miles makes less noise than this T5.
Please share your experience with the T5, especially concerning any kind of noise.
Thanks

RE: Manual Transmission Noisy ???
yea, I dont like the sound in neutral. More of a hum than a real whine. I am going to find another car to compare to and maybe have a different dealer check it out.
Maybe no problems, I am very particular and may just be hearing more than is there. But on the other hand I want to know now not later if there is a problem.
Thanks
