do you guys think you could actually do the 4.6 swap in our cars? Wouldnt you need a new tranny...oil pan, computer, intake...etc? Would it really be worth it?
**** no it wouldnt be worth it. i would be driving a gt right now if it wasnt for damn expensive insurance.

Buy a cheap 5.0 and build the hell out of that.

You could always go with a 5.0 (actually the 305 is a TRUE 5.0, but we won't get into that) out of an 86-93 GT/LX and drop that into the current V6 body. I'd say that would be a good swap, even though stock for stock both the 4.0 and 5.0 are about the same in torque and horsepower numbers, but you want to look at the fact that the 5.0 is a traditional pushrod engine with a HUGE amount of aftermarket parts available for it.

You could go with the Forged system coming out soon and this will take your 4.0 to a 4.5 then use a turbo (get with Rygen on this) with high boost ..............but make sure you get better gears and a stronger axle.............with the money you wil spend on that you are better off trading in the V6 for a 4.6 then you could get anywhere from 400 (easy) to 800 and even more "with the a bunch of money".........take the current advice though ^ just buy a older 5.0 and build it
