Honestly, most dealers will go to invoice and thats about it. If they're dying for a sale, they'll dip into the holdback, but I won't expect that. Offer them invoice, plus any rebates that are available to you.

That invoice thing is not true at all. If a dealer sells a certain number a month, ford gives them to them cheaper. The invoice is the base thing that the dealer would pay, but if you get a dealer that for example sells over $1,000,000 in fords a month they'll get them for cheaper than one that may sell half. The fact that I got mine for 5,000 under invoice shows the proof to this. This dealership was huge. I can understand they may have lost some money on this deal but dealers do not pay invoice or close to it. If a dealer like you guys are saying make 500 profit per car, and even if they sell maybe 90 a month, they're only turning over 540,000 a year. NOT HAPPENIN

I originally intended to purchase used, figuring I could get a better deal. However when It came down to it I realized I could actually get a better deal buying new.
First of all I don't have much credit so, as opposed to 18% apr they tried to screw me over w/ I ended up at 10% apr by buying new. I also was then able to take advantage of the rebates & incentives metioned (500 college, 500 incentive, 500 matching down). I purchased in May and had a few dearlerships selling at $100 over "invoice."
I went through an internet sales department and experience no hassle (priceless!)...except the day I decide to go to the dealership and my internet rep was not there and the cut-throat floor sales team tried to totally rip off an "ignorant chick" (WHICH, UNFORTUNATELY FOR THEM, I AM NOT!) so I walked out....So I dealed everything over the phone w/ my internet sales rep and made sure to get exactly what I wanted, no surprises and when it came time to go back in...everthing went smooth and quick!
I ended up w/ a V6 Premium pkg, automatic, sport appearance, interior upgrade, leather int...MSRP 23,600
Don't remember the exact price paid for the car, but that becomes irrelavent b/c they lowered the price way low and then tacked on a 6yr warenty, gap ins, theft gaurd and all this other crap for a profit
The bottom line is that I will end up paying 28,000 after 6yrs.....this includes all the extra crap, 10% apr, & TTL and after a total of 3,000 down.
I know for a fact I could not have gotten this good of a deal buying used, and now that the 2007s are soon to come, dealers are likely to be more flexible and more willing to work with you for a sale.
