Cleaning the C&L intake filter?

After only about 10,000 miles, the filter on my C&L intake is looking a bit on the dirty side. To be honest, I'm not sure just how dirty it can get before it restricts flow. But, was wondering, what do you need to clean it? Does it just need the K&N cleaning kit?

I think most auto parts stores have a cleaning and reoiling kit for all of these type filters available

the k&n will work basicly the same stuff

I had a feeling the K&N cleaning kit would work... I suppose there are others out there... the K&N is the only one I've seen (of course, I haven't really looked LOL). Thanks for your responses!
