Question for all you autos out there...
Hey guys, is there an advantage/disadvantage to using the 3 - 2 - 1 set up below the "D" on our auto shifters? Whats the purpose, and when do we use it? I stay in D all the time and she seems to go well enough...
Can anyone shed some light on this?

Look in your owners manual that came with the car. it will tell you when to use these gears.

it just makes it so if you were on a road coarse and you stepped on it coming out of a turn you wouldnt have to wait for the transmission to downshift. and it sounds good too

honestly I use mine all the time cause it seems way cooler. Often I find myself downshifting to 3rd on this road coming home from work, everyone likes to go 30MPH in a 35MPH zone when they have to go downhill for some reason..
def wish I bought a manual though now, even though I cant drive one shifting really gets me going for some reason...

I actually like shifting from 1-5 with my Automatic, even though im over reving it, i love the sound of the engine just makes me all tingly inside.. hehe.. but mostly its in D, buying a manual and knowing when to press the clutch and the 1-2 seconds to release the clutch, is just too much for me to remember.. just brake, gas and GO!

For racing, the shifting is still sluggish when using the 1-2-3 settings. I redlined once going from 2-3.. engine was really raspy. First and last time I heard that.
