Why am I getting very low MPG?

RE: Why am I getting very low MPG?
It seems that the biggest mistake many of you are making is referring to the computer to tell you what your mileage is. The way it works is:
1. Fill your car up
2. Reset your trip odometer
3. Drive car until you need to fill up again
4. Fill up car, note the number of gallons it took to fill up
5. Divide number of miles driven between fill-ups by gallons it took tofill-up.
The computer's version of mpg and mile left to drive ona tank are never accurate.

Honestly... I believe it could be a lead foot and fast acceleration.
If it's manual, you might be draging out the gears into too high of an RPM.
If your also in a city where you get stopped at every light, that won't help.
I've managed to get myself down to 14mpg when I was learning manual. Shifting correctly that easily shot up to 20+. However the day's of driving like an every day driver are over, every time I get in my car I can't resist but to just punch the gas. So i'm averaging about 19mpg, and thats when i'm having fun with it.
But you if you do believe your driving it correctly, then something may be wrong, and it could be something very simple, so have the dealership check it out. If they claim nothing is wrong, then take it elsewhere to have it checked.

RE: Why am I getting very low MPG?
Before all the mods, I was getting about 13-14 pure city driving, and about 26-27 on the highway. Once I put the gears in, and probably with all the other mods (true duals, new driveshaft, etc), it dropped to about 11-12 in pure city driving and about 24-25 on the highway. Just this weekend with about 40% city and 60% highway, I was averaging about 20 to 21, but I also drive around 80 mph on the highway and I drive the car like I stole it in the city. Guess it could be better if I drove slow....
