I was reading the post on the average MPG for 4.0 V6s and I realized that my MPG is very low. I have an 06 Premium Mustang Convertable and whenever my wife drives, the MPG, she averages about 12 MPG and when I drive, I can only get up to 15 MPG. I know have about 1000 mi and I don't drive like a maniac and my wife actually drives slower than me. Can somebody tell me why this is so and how I can improve my MPG?

If it's brand new then it will take time to brake in. Hell, maybe your wife has a lead foot when you're not around.

^Drive about 300 miles on open road and you can easily figure out the milege.

The Car tells me what my average MPG is. It can even show me the ups and downs of my MPG

MAN.. something is wrong with your car... my GT with a hot tune gets 15 when I run her HARD!... avg is 19 driving to work... 23 on the highway.

Take it to the dealership... have it checked out, and do NOT take the "Some cars get less then the sticker says" Excuse from them... you car should be getting way better then 13 / 15!

Miles driven divided by gallons put in will give you what mileage you are getting. Always calculate it yourself. The car readout is usually inaccurate.

You may have a faulty fuel sensor like me. My fuel level goes up some times when im driving around by about a 1/4 of a tanks, and sometimes it drops to E from full. The first thing that started happening before that was the mpg going crazy. Sometimes i would get 20, sometimes 14. Just got to your dealership and ask.
