Default JBa Headers sound Question!

Hey guys I got my JBA Shorties installed this morning. I got in my car and turned it on and there was barely any difference in the sound, a tad deaper and a tad louder until the RPM's drop... I was kind of disappointed. Well I let it idle for a minute or two then I leave the shop and start going down the road with the music off and the windows down and I can barely hear a difference in the sound from inside the car BUT the car does seem to rev a little bit quicker so I did get a bit of a performance gain out of them, just enough to feel it. I let my dad drive and when I heard him drive behind my house I could hear that the sound WAS different from before. It sounds like more engine but it's not as big of a difference as I was expecting... any opinions?? My ears are open! Thanks guys!!

Yea, the shorty headers aren't very different from the stock ones.

Shorties are very different from stock. More flow from stock.

how much more? Eveyone I talk to says the manifolds on our cars are actually pretty well designed... I'm not aware of anyone one that has dyno'ed JUST the JBA shorties..

I'd have to concur, NA the stock manifolds flow real well. Every shop I spoke to said don't bother with shorties. They said yes, they will flow better than stock, but not by a significant amount. As for loud headers, LT's are the way to go if you want loud. And they do flow better, unfortunately they are not an option with my turbo.

The cats seem to be good quality, and make the car a little louder(not much), but I only had the on for 2 days. I had the exhaust shop put flanges on my exhaust cutouts and on the cats that way I can interchange them when I want. Right now my car doesn't have any cats on it.

I did some research on this and the headers flow better (slightly) and the better flow in turn increases gas pressure which in turn changes the sound to a more "motor" sound.

I'll try to get some of the articles I read and post them...... final word is that everything gained is marginal. But as they say (not sure who said it actually.... LOL) winning in motorsports is a marginal business!!!!
