yea, thats correct. Only when the headlights are on. And there was a previous post on this site about having it put in after the purchase of the car. I believe they siad it was about $200 because the entire gauge cluster has to be replaced. IMO its not worth it, I put mine to light blue and it never changes.

Still waiting for the gas to get low enough to get a pic, wife keeps putting in feul!

I had my gas really low the other day, and it never changed colors. I have the mycolor option, turned to light blue, and the headlights were on. My message center changed to display "Fuel Low" and tell me my distance i could travel on the gas I have. I let it get all the way down to 28 miles to empty, and yet still no light. Any idea how low it has to get for the guage to turn red?

Yup, the red light triggers at 10 miles-to-empty.
Incidentally, the other gauges will also turn red if they go into trouble mode. For example, if your car is running hot the temp gauge will turn red. As someone else mentioned, your parking lights need to be on to see this. I've run my fuel down that low twice, and seeing that red light is not exactly happy time
