I hope more than five or six. If Ford goes ahead and changes the 4.0 SOHC to a 3.5L DOHC, maybe we'll get lucky and their worth will go up a bit. Anyways, I can't think of many cars that gain value in a short run, but in 20-30 years, whether it's worth a lot or not, it'll be a nice car to pull out of the garage and take for a weekend drive.

the worst part about this discussion is the fact that no one has mentioned the fact that WE ALL mod our cars.
the reason i bring this up, is modded cars without professional documentation depreciate much worse than stock.
the average buyer frowns upon the performance and apperance upgrades we add because it takes away some of the reliablity of the car.
yes, there are going to be those gear heads that see the time and energy (along with the extra 50 horses) that come with the car, but those perspective buyers are few and far between.
and not to mention that most of the major dealerships cant re-sell heavily modded cars because they wont pass their inspections.
its sad i know...but we love our cars...and wouldnt get rid of them anyways right?....

Hell no we wouldnt get rid of them...If i did i'd just be for another Mustang lol...The mustangs i've experienced seem to last long for a daily driver with good care. I got 115,000 miles out of my 2000 before i traded for this car and let me tell you she road like a dream. Who cares what theyll be worth as long as we enjoy them thats what i say.

I like to think my 05 is a special car, but am not naive to the fact that on the used market it is just another convertible. The mods add nothing to the value of the car, UNLESS you are fortunate to locate a buyer that understands the benefits of performance mods. Selling or trading the car five or six years down the road will yield whatever the market at that time will bear. Factor in the future price of gas, who knows where that will be by then.

I got a nice trade-in for my wife's 35th anniversary, 99 convertible when we bought the 05. We had owned the car for about seven years and it only had 48,000 on it and was immaculate (they sold it the next day, never sat on the dealer's lot).

Good post, these are NOT collector cars; too many produced to be worth a bunch. Just enjoy it, the best MUSTANG I've ever owned/driven.

Why worry about it? In 4 or 5 years I'll still be having a blast driving my '05 and there'll be a lot more aftermarket parts available. I didn't buy it as an investment, I bought it because it tripped my trigger.
