One of the bad things about mustangs is they have really bad depreciation as opposed to hondas and toyotas. 01 and 02 v6s that sold for 18-19k are selling for 6-7k now while 01-02 civics that sold for 16k are selling for 10-12k. I love the Mustang regardless. I'm curious how the 05-06 4.0L v6 will stack up as far as depreciation and resaleability. Compared to the older v6s, this v6 is a good engine with decent horsepower. I'm hoping the depreciationi is slightly less on these s197 models.

Probably not much ... just look at eBay ... the market is already saturated with used 2005/2006 Mustangs ... and a V6 will probably be worth $5K less than a GT of the same year ... just like the original MSRP. I say after 5 years a V6 mustang will be worth $6,000 tops ...

IMO... I think a little more due to the uniqueness of the car. The old V6 wer a 9 year old modle with very little respect for its engineering and proformance. There is very little difference in our V6 and the GT (other that the motor and HP). Time will tell...

It'll probably depend on if or when they change the style in 2008 and how popular that is. I could see the body style holding some value depending on how many are actually out there in 4-5 yrs. There are a lot now, but if they drastically change the look again in the next couple years who knows!

Millions!!!
Well, maybe not.... but I'd tend to think that the '05 through the next major style change will hold its value perhaps a tad better than its pre-'05 brethren due in large part to the excellent reviews and overall acceptance of the re-engineered design, structure and style changes, etc. By how much more it will hold that value, I can't guess, but perhaps as much as $3k more on average. Oh.. I guess I can guess cuz I just did. [8D]

am i really hearing this???/ peeps saying probably not much, when you compare the stang to any rice ride out there there is no comparison. the stang will hold its value no matter what especially as it gets older. you cannot convinve me that a 5 yr old stang is worht 5 g's most are priced higher than that going back 5 yrs, and at any rate you think a stang with 100 000 miles is worth less than say a toyota or honda with the same miles? no its not, just keep em nice treat em right and when the time comes you will not only get something decent for your ride, but you will have had a million miles worth of fun as well.
will they retain their value, IMO yes, particularly as they get older, once they hit 25 yrs its on.......
my 2 cents
