Default Moleskin

I'm looking at maybe getting a moleskin strip to put in my door to help protect my tint, but I have a few questions...

1) How easy of an install is this?

2) Is it totally necessary? I don't roll my windows down a whole lot, and the guy I talked to at the dealer said that if I run my finger or a piece of paper or something along that slit before I roll it up that I shouldn't have any problems.

What have those of you with tint done, and how many of you with 2006's have had their tint get scratched, or is this mostly a 2005 problem?

okay the problem with the tint scratching is all of them, especially the darker tints you can see it more. But you are going to want to order moleskin it should not be hard at all to install you just pull door panel back a little bit I believe. I havent ordered mine yet, but im going to in the next few days. My tint is pretty messed up and tint place i had do it said everything is full warranty. When i took it back they said they did not cover scratches... so i have to pay to have it redone.

if you dont think it will scratch....please get moleskin OR
you can cut 1/8" to 1/4" off from the piece that rubs on the window.

The place that did mine used felt, if you don't use anything it WILL scratch.

I had mine done 35/15 at a shop here in SD the guy said it didn't need felt or moleskin. I was of course scheptical and asked if would put his money where his mouth was and he warrarted the tint for 1 year against scratching. I have had them now for several months and I have NO scracthes. He said the key is to have the area clean when you install then try to always drive with your windows up if you get alot of stuff inside the car that ends up in the window edge it will sractch what ever you have on there.
At first I didn't believe him but since he was willing to warrantee what he said I went with it and so far so good. Phil

Dude, that's horrible. That means you basically can't roll your windows down when the weather's nice and you're cruising.

It's entirely worth the $40 or whatever to just buy some moleskin, install it yourself (it's very, very easy - just follow TacoBill's tutorial) and roll the windows down as much as you want.

The overwhelming experience is that no moleskin = scratched tints. It's cheap and easy enough to just get it put on there, and not worry about wrecking your tint job.
