Default Disconnected Battery : Relearn Idle

I'm curious to know how many people have actually "re-taught" your car if you have disconnected the battery.
It says on page 199 (05 Manual) that if you disconnect the battery at any time, a sequence of operations must
be performed to , "relearn its idle and fuel trim strategy for optimum driveability and performance."

I know when I installed my JBA axle back along time ago, they recommend to disconnect the battery so the computer
would reconize the new exhaust flow.
I then did the steps that manual requires to make sure everything would be well.

Just a heads up to everyone if you have disconnected your battery and didn't see it in the manual.
Good to know IMO.

What were the steps, other than disconnecting the battery?

Well.. I put the manual back in my car. So heres a rough version lol

After disconnected,

Start car in park and run for a minute +.
*
Next run the AC for a minute +.
*
Drive the car for 10+ miles.
*
Vary your speed to reteach the car.

(I did an average of 45+ with a few complete stops.. then brought her up to 90 )

Its better explained in the manual though.

I want to thank you for the question and the advice. Recently I installed my CAI and disconnected the battery. I did not know this was an issue. I looked it up, followed the manual, and noticed a change in the idle and performance. It probably would have worked its way out, but I am grateful that you all brought this up and gave me a chance to take care of my Mustang.

I'm glad this forum works so well.

Hey no prob.
I've been meaning to post this for awhile, but never got around to checking out the manual to re-read it.
I think anyone who has disconnected the battery due to;

CAI/Exhaust
Speaker/ Headunit
Headlights
Plug wires
Dead Battery

Etc.. Should read up on the manual and disconnect the battery, then follow the procedure to make sure everything is as it should.

I installed my CAI the other day but never disconnected the battery. You saying I need to so the computer can adjust for the CAI?

I can't say for sure because I don't know what CAI you have. Usually the directions would say to disconnect or not.
I know that the K&N says to disconnect when installing their CAI.
