You can negotiate with dealers. They might come out and say this is the deal, but they also want to make a nice big fat commission. Sounds like they're charging you MSRP on an 06 minus the rebate. Go in next time, be firm (remember you are the customer) and tell them you will give them invoice for it, minus the rebates. If they say no, walk out and watch them try to stop you. Many dealers are selling the 06s at invoice now because there's so many and the 07s are almost here.

I don't know about so many '06s here. We found 4 in a town of 250K. There are a ton of 07's on every Ford lot (basically one of every color and model). In fact the dealers here could only find us another 3-4 that we would want, pulling from their other available lots.

Picked up an '06 V6 Premium package with basically everything on it except leather seats for 2% over invoice and 0% financing through Ford tonight. We will take delivery tomorrow. My wife is trying to be cool about it, but I'll bet she doesn't sleep much tonight. This is her first brand new car ever in her 17 years of driving. We didn't take the extended warranty (just the 3/36K with the 5/60K drivetrain they were offering) or the other little doo-dads they threw in front of us. Actually they didn't push any of the extra stuff. They just laid it down in front of us and said these are extra. Look through and if you are interested we'll tell you more about them.
