2007 GT500 into the 11's

Not sure how many of my 4.0L friends saw this in the other section -

This past Saturday, Evolution Performance (a MF sponsor, BTW) took their 2007 Shelby GT500 to Cecil County (MD) Dragway, and became the first ones to get into the 11's (11.816 actually). Here's a link they posted in the s197 section:

I took the family there to see their Shelby run (and maybe talk to Fred about getting a CAI/tuner for my 4.0L!). I haven't been to the dragstrip in a few years - it was so cool!

Here are some of my pictures (the first link is a QuickTime video clip):

Obviously, I'm not a professional photographer, but you get the idea. Like I said, it's been a while since I've been to the track, and 20 years since I raced my '66 coupe (14.9's on my then 2.80:1 open rear). Cars are quicker now. 11's used to happen occasionally, and 10's were a rare sight - ("street" cars). There were quite of few 10/11 sec cars wearing license plates this past weekend. Got to see a Chevy something (fiberglass body) run a 6.69 1/4 mile at over 200 mph - that was exciting! My 10yo son saw him go and said that was worth the $20 for the three of us to get in!

But that Shelby sounded so sweet. I believe the only mods at this time are a custom CAI, tune, and DR's.

Later,
