i just got beat by a is300
is this normal? do these cars really that fast? well i was traveling at around 80 mph on the freeway and this car pulls up next to me and i didnt think much of it. all of a sudden my g/f was like he is trying to race you. i hear him punch it and he takes off. i take off after him. he hit around fifth gear and he is gone. i kinda maxed out at 115 so i had no chance after that. But isnt his car a lot lighter then mine and dont they have more hp and tq then our stock stangs?

ok well do you have a stick? because the is300 coulda been a stick even the auto has tiptronic so he could shift down for quick respnse plus u said he had the jump on you by taking off first so if ur an auto then thats ur problem right there. plus u never know if he has work done. especially now theres alot of exhaust that specialize in being quiet for tuners for sleepers or people who want performance and not sound so.

guy here ran his brand new is350 to a 13.4. scared the crap out of us mustang owners (went with a few gt guys that werent even running that fast).
the is300 in the manual trans is still a mid-high 14 second car. nothing to toy around with.

i kept up with an old one in my 02, all i did was manually downshift and i pretty much stayed right with her, she was slightly pulling away but it wasnt by much i would think you would of had a better shot

IS300's are lighter and have a little bit more power. They also rev higher and have a higher top speed plus he could have had mods. Don't worry about it man, that's why I usually don't race if I think they can beat me. Actually I havn't raced in a long while and it's probably better. I wouldn't worry about it though just drop $5000 into F/I lol! That's my solution for everything lol
