GTI's with the "Automatic" DSG are faster than the standard manual GTI's, something like 0.2s faster in 0-60. A DSG version should be good for a mid 6s from 0-60, and a high 14 in the quarter. And if its chipped they're not pushing out 200hp anymore, probobly closer to 250hp/300lbft. I'd put my money on the GTI, I've heard people in GT's having trouble beating modded GTI's.

50 hp from a chip? what the fu........ we talking diesel here or something?

u jumped from 200/207 to 250/300? think more like 205-210/215ish. especially with no bolt ons, we are talking minimal gains on any car with a tune.
any turbo car will gain alot more than 10 horsepower with a tune...especially a gti. they have really strong blocks and their stock injectors are very high flowing so with just a tune (the boost can be turned up dont forget) they can gain alot.

I understand that, i guess I undershot a little bit with my numbers. however 50hp/93ft lbs is a little ridiculous. not even the manufacturers advertise that much for the tuners, and EVERY manufacturer over rates their products a little bit. the dyno sheets I looked at has similar hp/torque numbers. we have to remember its a 4cyl turbo. while it may be good at producing torque for its displacement, it isnt going to have v8 ratios.

It might be a little four-banger, but the car might weigh less.

2.0 T
It was a 1.8 liter turbo before last year. They just changed it with the new bodies.

I guess I will chime in on this. I own a '03GTI and a '01 Audi A4, both with the 1.8T. You can get some great gains on these cars with just a retune. The new GTI or Audi A3 with the 2.0T is a whole different motor. Just a tune with 93 octane puts that 2.0T at around 250-260 HP to the ground. The 1.8T will max at around 230-240 with the stock turbo and injectors. I have driven the new GTI with the 2.0T and DSG. Tell your friend to do the REVO software. And don't bother to race him unless you want to waste gas.
