Crummy MPG after cold air?

Crummy MPG after cold air?
Hello everyone!
I added a Tunable Induction intake kit to my 2006 V6 last month and applied the 87 octane program with the SCT Xcal II (I did the 87 octane because that was what was in the tank and it had just been filled). Well, long story short, I normally get about 350 miles on a tank of gas. Since the addition of the cold air kit and new tune I'm getting about 280 miles per tank. So, the tank is almost empty and I'm thinking of doing the 93 octane program from the Xcal when I fill up again (with 93 octane of course) in the hopes that my mileage will improve.
Is a normal 20% decrease in gas mileage normal with a cold air system? While there was a nice little boost of power from the addition, it is only a *little* boost and since I tend to use the car for business travel a 20% decrease is pretty costly.
Any ideas?
tia,

(edit to fix typos in octane (93 vice 96) and miles per tank (not MPG)...

RE: Crummy MPG after cold air?
280 MPG sounds pretty good.
I have the tunable inductions intake, my mileage, if anything, went up maybe 1 or 2 mpg.
Could it be you're thwomping it everywhere you go now? The computer "learns" your driving style, did you maybe "teach" it to be a power pig? You check usual culprits like tire pressure, etc? Double check your install make sure everythings right, esp the MAF sensor. Do you have any other mods?
What do you mean 96 octane tune? Mine came with 87, 91 and 93. 96 would be race fuel?
With gas prices back to earth, I've been running the 93, getting around 24 mpg average, which i guess is about 336 miles to the tank (14 gallons, right?)

RE: Crummy MPG after cold air?
We have 16 gallon tanks.
As for the MPG, mine went down a bit after I got my tuner. It was because I was pounding the accelerator! I just couldn't help myself! Once I started driving normal again, my mileage went back to normal. I do better than before on the highway, but pretty much the same city. With all my combined driving, I usually average 400mi per tank.

Before I did any mods I was getting close to 430 miles per tank. Since then I've been getting about 400 miles per tank, sometimes better, sometimes worse. 400 miles per tank works out to be 25mpg.

Right now after my CAI/Tune my gas indicator is acting up. I drive for a bit than it goes down a qarter of tank full than after a bit it comes back up again, I am getting 23 mpg though.....
