Default Whats That Smell?

I'm driving to work today and as I am going through traffic, I needed some speed, but for some reason left it in 4th gear and pressed the accelator( I was going about 25 mph). The engine reved up to about 4 on the RPM's for about 10 seconds (yes I know a lower gear would have gave me more speed but I had a stupid moment) well after this happen, there was a foul order in the car.. What did i do???

Did you eat beans before you drove??? no just kidding, but seriously it's probably a burned clutch, When you go to the wrong gear or even dont let go of it right in the correct one it does smell bad, so be careful......

just be more careful, a caouple of times won't do that much harm, (I've done it more than once) but after a while it might be a problem....

And on such a new car it won't cause any 'Damage' persey but it will glaze the friction surfaces rendering the clutch junk.

Did it smell similair to burning brakes?
If so, then yes, it was the clutch.
You can lug these things, but to an extent. And if you need to pass, you have to downshift!!
