Default RE: Newbie question

It's basically a potentially annoying, deep sound that penetrates the ear. Most commonly caused by sound tones resonating from being slghtly out of tune with one another. Sometimes created by certain muffler or other exhaust related modifications (and even stock situations depending on the vehicle).

EDIT: Also sometimes caused by tire types and the noise they make with the road, etc.

It can also be caused by your choice of spouse.
