Default Is this problem the gas tank recall??

So I was pretty much on empty my gas light was even on. I go to the gas station and it stops at $20.00 with only like 7 gallons, i know that was wrong bc i was empty and its a 16 gallon tank. it took me 10 mins to put another $20 in bc it get going and stopping everyother second. is this the recall??

also how much does it take to fill up and how many miles do you guys go? bc i usually put about $40 and i never really let it get empty. i was just wondering bc now im thinking i never really filled the car up

I fill with 13 gallons.

I have had that happen to me a couple of times.

Not always. I have not gone in for a new gas tank.

It has been mentioned here in the past that it may

help to unscrew the gas cap slowly. Don't know if that's
the answer.

If it's happening constantly then perhaps you should get
it replaced.

Its the recall, got mine replaced a while ago. Make sure you go in with as little gas as possible, it will make the job go faster.

If I run my tank dry it'll take about 14 gallons. I don't think the new Mustangs have a 16 gallon tank. I could be wrong though. As far as the trouble with filling the tank, what year is your car? The 05 had a TSB for the filler, but the problem did not repeat on the 06. If you're an 06, you may have an isolated problem or (more likely) the gas station has really sensitive pumps. I've had a few instances where I had to hold the pump in odd ways to give it enough room to "breathe" and not kick the pump off but it was specific to the gas station.

The gas tank is 16 gallons. The gas light comes on at 14 gallons saying it's empty, giving you a 2 gallon cushion. Always better safe than sorry!

there was a tsb on 05 06 models.

they will replace the tank,

those that can't get it replaced at this time, if you turn the nozzle upside down so the handle is up in the air, the gas usually pumps fine then.

That's happened to me twice after the first fill up when the car was brand new. Ever since then it fills right up. Maybe because as some has suggested, I have been putting the gas nozzle in at an angle.

Do you know the TSB number? I had the problem with my 07 a couple of times. I asked service manager and he just acted dumb. It doesn't happen often. I have tried the upside down nozzel and it does work.
