Default Cold Feet Painting Calipers

Well, I got my GT takeoff wheels (as if you all didn't know that already).... and I bought a caliper painting kit to paint them red. Well, I pulled the first wheel, and was ready to paint, but just to really see how much caliper I would see, I popped a new GT takeoff on..... Holy Cow.... you see a TON of caliper. Then I started thinking about seeing all that red, and suddenly it seemed like it could be a huge distraction. I got cold feet....... I don't think I am going to paint them. I just don't know....

Anybody out there with good picture of Satin Silver car with GT takeoffs and red calipers....... gee, that's not too specific, is it? Think I am nuts worrying about all the red being just TOO distracting??

I say do it... i just finished mine, they look amazing. although i have a torchred stang, so they match. be sure to get some hi temp clear coat from summit racing, that'll really make em shine. I dont think it will distract from anything, it will only add to the car.

I was considering going white or black with my calipers...just got to find the time to go pick up the caliper paint and do it. I'm also a little fearful. I think black would be "too much" with the tape stripe, and although I considered red, I tossed that idea. I figured white would be a reasonable compromise!

for all that do this... i just did, get the kit... it is useful... but also get about three more cans of brakleen or another brake cleaner and a wire brush. It will save you so much headache... One can of hi temp clear coat will last for all four calipers and brackets. It is only 4 bolts to take the whole unit off, so do that, makes it easier to get all the nooks and crannies. Two or three paintbrushes would also be smart, cause the one that comes in the kit starts to shed very quickly and you are stuck chasing hairs out of the paint, especially after the second coat.

so get three more brake cleaners, two more paintbrushes, and the kit and it will be easy.
