Pyrat, For the people who dont have the extra money for the upgraded driveshaft (me, especially right now) How much are the retaining clips you mentioned above and where do you get them? Also i put on my intake and exhaust with no prior experience which isnt hard in the first place lol but would this be something i could install or would i want to have someone else put them in for me?

But you might be able to make them your self and I would think they would be easily installable as a DIY project, although a lift would make it much easier.

Edit: Here another consideration. The driveshaft problem isn't really related to the speed of the vehicle, but rather to the RPM of the driveshaft. The stock V6 Mustangs come with a 3.31 or more specifically 3.31:1 (3.31 to 1) rear end. What this means is that for every revolution of the tires, the driveshaft turns 3.31 times. The most popular gear swaps for the V6 are 3.55, 3.73, and 4.10. That means the driveshaft is turning 107%, 112%, or 124% respectively of its RPM with the 3.31 gears at any given speed. Assuming 112 MPH as the safe speed limit with 3.31 gears, we can calculate the safe speed with the 3.55, 3.73 and 4.10 gears to be approximately, 104.7 MPH, 100 MPH and 90.3 MPH respectively. Now, assuming I've done the math correctly, this would seem to indicate that even when drag racing some of our cars are exceeding the design limitations of the stock drive 05 through mid-06 shaft.

I'd appreciate someone running this to verify it one way or the other.

Basic formula X is to 112 as 100 is to either 107, 112 or 124.

X/112 = 100/124 (for 410 gears)
124X = 112*100
X = (112*100)/124
X = 11200/124
X = 90.3225...

Another way of looking at this would be that your maximum speed is now approximately 80.6% (100/124) of what is was with the 3.31 gears.

After reading this and many other forums, I went and installed a powerhouse driveshaft. It's sad, when I got my car, I never thought I would do this much work on the car.....I think my wife is going to kill me if she ever adds up the bills on all the mods I have done....
