RE: I got about 2k miles...first oil change?
As a guy working on cars for years and have many auto mechanics freinds who work for auto makers this is the deal.
Break in the first 500-1000 miles the metal shavings are wearing off as the metal parts move and get used to themselves.
It is critical to get these metal shards out of your engine as they will start scarring cylinder walls, etc.
The BEST thing for a new engine is an intial first oil change between 500 and 1000 miles to get these metal shaving out of your engine.
Most mechanics that really know about engines and have rebuilt them will tell you this.
This will increase the life of an engine dramatically UP TO FORTY PERCENT. Change every 3-4K after that unless you go full synthetic like Amsoil you can go longer. (our Mustangs come with a synthetic BLEND from the factory)
